You must aim high to hit high targets.
You must choose the highest goals and virtues to achieve the highest results.
When you shoot for the moon, then you might land on top of the Eiffel Tower.
When you shoot for the stars, then you might land on the moon.
Since the highest is an abstraction and an impossible ideal, then you should choose to be grateful when your greatest efforts either approximate the ideal or arrive close to it.
