“I am sorry,” is said for your conscience.
“I won’t do it again,” is said for your ego or pride.
“It won’t happen again,” is said for your ego or self-esteem.
“How can I make it up to you?,” is said for concern for the other person.
“How can I correct it?,” is said for the sake of your integrity, responsibility, and accountability to others.
