- Thinking is useful only insofar as it is not confused with what it is thinking about.
- Words are useful tools to indicate realities they can never fully represent or hope to delineate.
- You can talk on the phone to a starving person about all kinds of food, but your talking will never feed them.
- You can sympathize with the pain of a woman giving birth. However, your sympathy will never carry the experience or share the pain.
- Language is separate from what it is about; however, the more educated you are, the more likely you are to confuse language with reality.
