General Semantics Is Obviously True (GS): 11-02-2025

  1. Thinking is useful only insofar as it is not confused with what it is thinking about.
  2. Words are useful tools to indicate realities they can never fully represent or hope to delineate.
  3. You can talk on the phone to a starving person about all kinds of food, but your talking will never feed them.
  4. You can sympathize with the pain of a woman giving birth. However, your sympathy will never carry the experience or share the pain.
  5. Language is separate from what it is about; however, the more educated you are, the more likely you are to confuse language with reality.
